A lot of people use emulators to play classic SNES games on their computers. But what about gamers that want to play SNES games on their mobile devices? Can they also use emulators? It looks like they can. Snes9x ex+ has gained a lot of traction in recent years. But is it the right emulator for your mobile device?
What is Snes9x EX+?
Snes9x ex+ is an open-source SNES emulator that works on Android, iOS, and Linux devices, not to mention WebOS. Written in C++, Snes9x ex+ is based on Snes9x, another Super Nintendo emulator.
The Snes9x was developed by Gary Henderson and Jerremy Koot. It worked on a multitude of platforms, including Windows, Android, Wii, Linux, MS-DOS, and PS3, to mention but a few.
Snes9x debuted on the internet in 1998. The emulator’s source code was eventually released to the public. Though, the license prohibits other developers from using the source code for commercial purposes. Snes9x ex+ is one of the many emulators that came out of the original Snes9x.
Boasting near complete game compatibility, the Snes9x Ex+ supports the Super Scope. You can use the gun to shoot by simply touching the screen. You can also attach keyboards and controllers via Bluetooth. Your Android device works as the screen in scenarios of this sort.
The program is lightweight. It uses very little memory. To get the best results, your device needs at least 1GHz. Even though the emulator is free, it doesn’t have any ads, which is surprising.
