The PS4 is one of the greatest consoles in gaming history. But finding a decent PS4 emulator for PC is far more difficult than you think.
What is a PS4 Emulator?
A PS4 emulator is a program that replicates the PS4 environment on a computer, allowing the user to play PS4 games on their PC. The PS4 is a powerful machine. It is also home to some of the most exciting games the world has ever seen, the likes of ‘Last of US’ and ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’.
Unfortunately, even though the console is popular, some people cannot afford to buy one. Many gamers will tell you that they do not have the financial strength to own both a PS4 and a computer. They have to choose one. Computers tend to win out because they can do so much more whereas the PS4 can only play video games.

This is where emulators enter the picture. If you have to choose between owning a PS4 and a PC, a PS4 emulator simplifies this decision by allowing you to play PS4 games on your PC. You can have the best of both worlds without buying a PS4.

Finding a PS4 emulator for PC is difficult because PS4 emulators that work are scarce. Even though many people cannot afford to buy the console, at the end of the day, the PS4 is one of the most successful consoles in history because it has tens of millions of users around the world.
In other words, many of the people that want to play PS4 games own a PS4. Therefore, the demand for PS4 emulators is not as great as you think. That being said, if you need a PS4 emulator for PC, you have several options to choose from, including:
1. PS4 EMUS

This emulator entered the market in 2013. It has undergone numerous adjustments and modifications over the years, which is why the emulator has so many positive reviews. The developers are continuously refining it.
The application’s reach is not limited to the PC. You can use it on Android, iOS, and macOS devices. The emulator’s crowning jewel is the feature that allows users to download and play games online
The developers were determined to replicate the gaming experience offered by the console, which is why the emulator’s FPS rate and graphics are so impressive. Naturally, it has some limitations. You cannot access the PlayStation network. But you don’t need the PlayStation Network to enjoy all the games the PS4 brings to the table.
PS4 EMUS works just like any other emulator. To use it, you have to download and install the application. Just follow the instructions.
2. PCSX4
This is a semi open-source emulator that uses Open GL, Direct X, and Vulkan. Compatible with Windows and Mac, PCSX4 stands out because it is a heavy application that requires a powerful computer.
You need a 64-bit operating system. Aim for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 (Mac OS 10.13.6 or higher), and a 4-core processor (Minimum). The Game cache image linked to a user’s PCSX4 account should have 256-bit encryption.
As you can see, the emulator is somewhat challenging, especially for people with older, weaker computers. But PCSX4 has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times because you can play games at 60fps. You would be hard-pressed to find an emulator that can replicate the graphics of a PS4 as accurately as the PCSX4.
Despite the heavy requirements, the emulator is easy to use. Just download the program, extract the files, and install the emulator (while running as admin). The only relatively complicated step is the one that requires the user to extract and link the PlayStation identifier file (.pdix) to their account.
PCSX4 Configuration
Step 1: You need to Extract .(zip) file and install PCSX4
Step 2: Now Open PCSX4 and “Run as Admin” if required.
Step 3: You have to Extract and copy .pdix to the PCSX4 folder.
Step 4: You should create a PCSX4 account within the emulator by clicking >PCSX4 menu > Manage PCSC4 account > “Register” and then “Log in” and link your PDIX to the account. This will take few moments to complete.
Step 5: Make sure you Insert the PS4 game disc into your drive.
Step 6: Now you can Install game cache from > Emulation > Install game cache from BD-ROM, Select disk drive, cache folder, and click on “Install game cache”. This will take a while. Make sure that you have enough free disk space on your PC to save the cache. Otherwise, you will get an error message.
Step 7: So we have installed it, now start your game by clicking “Emulation > Open saved cache” and select one of your previously saved game Images.
So finally we have configured our emulator on Windows. You can also configure graphics, audio, controller config. etc. according to your hardware. It will provide you fastest speed, always select settings that meet your PCs.
3. Orbital Emulator

Orbital is an open-source emulator that Windows and Linux consumers can use to play PS4 games. It doesn’t work on OSX. People have already downloaded the program even though it is still a work in progress. The low-level emulator requires a high-end computer with at least 16GB of RAM.
And yet, you cannot use it to play commercial PS4 games. Because it is still under development, anyone that wants to download and use Orbital must build the BIOS, QEMU, and GRUB themselves.
Even though it has so much potential, the emulator isn’t worth the effort unless you know what you’re doing. You need a significant amount of technical knowledge.

4. SNES Station

This emulator can run PS1 and PS2 games. Therefore, installing the program allows you to play video games from three different consoles. Playing PS4 games isn’t quite as straightforward.
If you don’t care for the inbuilt ROMS, you can run your own ROMS. But you have to do so through a USB drive. The emulator requires a certain amount of technical skill as well. Depending on your objective, you may have to jailbreak your console.
The PS4 emulator is complicated because it is still under development. The developers may eliminate some of the weaknesses down the line.

5. PS4 EMX

This is another PS4 emulator for PC that is still under development. As was noted in the beginning, PS4 emulators are currently difficult to come by because the demand is low. This is why emulators like the PS4EMX haven’t received the attention from developers that other emulators enjoy.
Ghast steam is responsible for the program. They introduced the emulator in 2014. You cannot access PS4 EMX today. But it is far from dead. The developers have assured their followers that the emulator is being retooled.
Apparently, it is already compatible with windows. It requires 2GB of RAM, Pixel Shade, a 50GHz processor, and an AMD/NVidia GPU. Once it comes out, PS4EMX is expected to become one of the best emulators for the console on the market.

Conclusion
You need to apply a lot of caution where PS4 emulators are concerned. Many people do not realize that PS4 emulators are rare. As a result, they may fall for one or more of the numerous scams proliferating the internet today. Most of the PS4 emulators marketed online do not work. Some of them are hosts for malware. Do not download a PS4 emulator unless you trust the source.
