GTA 5 For Mac M1, M2 Download Free: Play on MacBook

GTA V is one of the most popular games in the world; it is specifically designed for Windows and PlayStation users, but many people use Mac OS, and some of them have the latest Apple silicon chipset, which officially supports the GTA 5 game. If you are familiar with Apple’s ecosystem, then you know that i Apple machine is not designed for gaming.

However, in this article, we will show you how to play GTA 5 on your Apple Mac M1 and M2. We have tested three methods on Mac, and all of them worked. We were able to play GTA 5 without any errors so let’s get started.

Method 1: Play GTA V using CrossOver

A CrossOver is a software that lets you download and install Windows software on the macOS platform, it is a type of emulation. But it worked with GTA V here is how you can run it.

Step 1. Download CrossOver from the official website.

Step 2. Put your name and email and download it.

Step 3. Now download Steam (Windows Version).

Step 4. Install CrossOver (Move to Application Folder).

Step 5. Run CrossOver.

Allow it to open.

Step 6. Select Steam Application and choose from the Installer source.

You need to select the installer file from Mac that you have previously downloaded.

Step 7. Select Windows 10 64Bit.

After that click on the “Continue” button. Then it will start installing.

Step 8. Next and Next process only. Once the installation of Steam is completed you can run it.

Step 9. Go to settings and enable to “High Resolution,” “Performance Enhanced Graphics”, and DXVK backend for D3D11.

Step 10. Now close CrosOver and restart it.

Step 11. Run Steam and create an account if you don’t have or already have then login to.

Note: It requires GTA V files to install here, so if you already have them, use them here; otherwise, you can download it from Google, Lots of websites host GTA V Installer files. Here you can install it.

Step 12. Copy GTA V files on Mac 

Step 13. Go to CrossOver and Steam, then  “Open C: Drive”; after that, go to Program Files (x86), then Steam, then Steamapps. Create a folder named “Common.”

Now you need to copy GTA V files into this created folder like this. After that close CrossOver.

Step 14. Run CrossOver, then Steam, and install GTA V. This time it will start to verify files you have to allow it. Once the process is complete, you can play the game.

Step 15. Go to Steam, then go to Library, then Grand Theft Auto V and you will find here a No Install button instead of a Play button. So click on “Play” and run the game into macOS.

This method is very useful for playing GTA v on PC but there are other methods that you can try if this one is not working for you.

Method 2: Play GTA V Using Parallels

In this method, you need to install Windows 10 or 11 on your Mac machine. Here’s how.

Step 1. Download Parallels software from the official website.

Step 2. Once you download it, you need to install it on our Mac, Run installer.

Step 3. If it asks for a password, then enter. 

Step 4. Click Next and Allow screen permission to complete further process.

Step 5. Now you need an ARM-compatible installer file. You can download it from Microsoft Website, and go to this link. After that, it requires you to create an account.

Step 6. Go to this link and sign in with your MS account.

Step 7. Choose the Windows Client ARM 64 Inside Preview button and download it. You should have enough data to complete downloading the file is around 9GB.

Step 8. Run Parallels, then continue and select the ARM file then drag and drop into the Installation Assistant. You can see this in the below image.

Step 9. After that, Click on Continue and choose Game only. Then create.

Note: For better gaming performance, you can optimize settings and allocate more RAM and CPU cores for better virtualization so that games can run smoothly.

Step 10. You can complete the remaining installations, and give permission when required.

Once you install it on your Mac, you can run Windows on your Mac machine without it being physically installed, and you can install GTA V normally on Windows. You can download it from Epic Games or Steam. This method is tested and works really well.

Method 3: Run GTA V using BootCamp

This method requires you to install Windows on your Mac, like the previous method, but this one will be installed physically. Apple provides a feature to their users that allows them to run two operating systems at the same time, so we are going to use this feature called Bootcamp.

Step 1. Download the Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft website.

Step 2. Setup Boot Camp

Step 3. Open Finder, then Applications, Utilities, and Boot Camp Assistant.

Step 4. Run the program and click on the continue button.

Step 5. Now you need to select Windows 10 ISO.

Step 6. You need to allow a minimum of 130 GB of space.

Step 7. Now you can install the Windows 10 ISO and set it up.

Step 8. It will restart Mac while installing Windows

Step 9. Once you install, run Windows, and then download the Epic Games installer.

Step 10. Run Epic game Launcher, create an account if you don’t have and download the game into your Mac.

You can also install GTA V using Steam software. This method might be complicated for you to install but if you want to play GTA V on your Mac M1 then you have to follow these methods. 

Pros and Cons of gaming on macOS

Pros:
• Wide variety of games available
• MacOS is a stable platform
• Good performance
• Easy to use
• Well designed

Cons:
• Limited number of games available compared to Windows
• Some games may not be compatible with macOS
• Some types of games that are available on other platforms, like voice chat and controller support, might not work on MacOS.
