Many people say that the type of emulator one uses doesn’t matter. They are all the same. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. While you would be right in calling DualiS an emulator, it isn’t really worth your time.
What is DualiS?
DualiS is an NDS emulator that was designed to work on Win32/x86 machines. Written in C++, DualiS is not that impressive because the development of the program ended in 2007. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it rudimentary. It lacks a lot of the basic functions you expect to see in NDS emulators.
The last version of DualiS that came out introduced 256 color palettes. It also solved some of the bugs that had haunted the previous version, including the program’s penchant for crashing whenever you tried to access ROMs via the ‘File’ option.
But the 2007 version is far from impressive. Apparently, the developers abandoned the project because of legal issues. The absence of a finished D3D renderer means that the emulator cannot play commercial games.
It can run some of them but it cannot play them fully. This begs the question. If it cannot play any commercial games, why is DualiS still around? Well, despite its limitations, it can run homebrew games, of which there are quite a few.
Even though it is sorely lacking where the video display and audio settings are concerned, developers have created numerous games that can run on the application. If you don’t have any interest in homebrew games, this emulator has nothing to offer you.
The second screen is present but it is black. You cannot remove the error notification it displays. Unless you want to use DualiS to view images, it doesn’t bring anything to the table for the casual NDS gamer.

How To Use DualiS?
If you want to run homebrew applications, DualiS will work just like every other emulator. You can go to ‘File’ and ‘Open’ to load games. But commercial games will not run.
The official website doesn’t have any answers to offer because the developers abandoned the project before they finished it. Keep this in mind before you download it.
For the most part, casual NDS fans will hate DualiS because it cannot run commercial NDS games. If you look at any list of NDS games that DualiS can run, you will notice that most of them crash.
Fortunately, these lists have given users adequate warning beforehand. If you choose to download DualiS, you should do so knowing that it will only run homebrew applications. If you have the skill, you can try experimenting with the settings.
But the chances of getting this emulator to play a commercial game without crashing are slim.
